Computational thinking (CT) development in primary education has been of growing importance in view of the increasing integration of digital technologies across all sectors of society and the need to nurture the next generation with creativity and problem solving skills. You are cordially invited to attend a Seminar on Computational Thinking Education in Primary Schools, under the CoolThink@JC Programme funded by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust. Details are as follows:

• Date: 31 March 2017 (Friday)
• Time: 3:00-6:00pm (updated time)
• Venue: Conference Centre, Block E, The Education University of Hong Kong, 10 Lo Ping Road, Tai Po, New Territories
• Objectives
  • The Seminar aims to:
    • share latest trends and development in computational thinking education at local, national and international levels;
    • discuss on different approaches and strategies for promoting the importance of computational thinking development; and
    • build up local school teachers’ teaching capacity in delivery of computational thinking skills.

  • The Seminar will comprise 2 invited speeches followed by a panel discussion on how to promote computational thinking education in schools:
    • Speech on Pedagogies for Teaching Computational Thinking: Pathways and Possibilities
      • Speaker: Professor LOOI Chee-kit (Nanyang Technological University, Singapore)
    • Speech on Empowering the Development of Computational Thinking through App Inventor
      • Speaker: Dr LI Yue (South China University of Technology, China)
